Not A Creature Was Stirring

I write to you tonight because my little lovebugs are asleep. That is right, they are snug in their beds in the SAME room! We transitioned the little one in with his big brother last night and as tonight, there was no protesting at bed time. Now, of course, this can't keep up. That would mean that we were putting them to bed all wrong their entire life! They must love falling asleep knowing their best friend is in the same room. It's like a Christmas miracle. At the same time, the realization of my little Cal falling asleep on his own in his big brother's room makes me feel as though he is a big boy too... I don't think I am ready for that! Tonight I will relax, for tomorrow and the next day will be filled with Christmas cheer/chores, food galore and of course a visit from the big man himself! I can't wait for our annual Nativity re-enactment tomorrow night!

Here are more pictures from our DC trip in October. We visited the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History which was impressive to the kids. The exhibits were amazing. The animals pictured were all living at one point! We loved hanging out with the Romero Family. We were also fortunate to meet up with Jason's parents. They babysat all of my parent's grandkids (5 kids 4 years and under, including 2 week old baby Claire!) Deb and John were troopers. We were able to gather together in the beautiful DC Temple, where we were sealed as kids many years prior!

Christmas Shopping

Tuesday, I was able to COMPLETE our Christmas shopping, I think. Do you ever feel like you are complete? I do not. I guess I inherited this trait from my dear mother. I think that is why I like to wait until right before Christmas to shop!  Thanks to AWESOME Mallory for watching the babes, I was able to venture out into the crazy world of Christmas shopping. I found that people were generally very friendly still. It wasn't too busy. We have enjoyed our time off with a few Holiday gatherings, plenty of cookies and treats and of course the occasional Christmas craft. Then, there was caroling, a tradition annually where we spread some "Christmas cheer!" I love this time of year. I feel I could shout my beliefs from the rooftops without much opposition.

We read the story of Christ's birth last night to the lovebugs from the scriptures. I was really touched by the words, for I know they are true. I love the verses in Luke Chapter 2. I was impressed by verse 19 & 33:

19 "But Mary kept all these things, and apondered them in her heart."
33 "And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him."

This is after the shepherds were visited by an angel came to see the Lord, Jesus Christ. After giving birth to a beautiful, magnificent child, who was the Son of God, Mary pondered these thing in her heart. She had that confirmation that all of these things were coming to past. A moment where she thought about the past and future and present. I am grateful for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his family. I am grateful that our Heavenly Father allowed his son to carry out the plan. Merry Christmas All!

The pictures are from my phone. Calvin loves to go down the slide by himself! He climbs up the wall and slides down. What a big boy! Enjoy....

Winter break?

I am pleased to announce that the procrastination has ceased! Well, in one area. I completed my grades and posted my student's final grades. I am so happy with myself, that I decided to celebrate by blogging tonight! I am smooth sailing until January 11. I have 3.5 weeks off to spend enjoying the boys, maybe coupon, maybe prepare for the upcoming semester of 6 classes (AHHHHH!), maybe sing some carols to those who would appreciate it, maybe take the boys outside to play everyday until that dreadful 11th, maybe just relax. I am excited nonetheless. Maybe I should get started! Cya!

PS: Enjoy some photos from our October MD trip! I know, I know, it is past due...

Merry Christmas to Oliver, From Santa

So the truth has surfaced...Oliver is not a fan of the big man, you know, Santa Claus. He really doesn't like any characters or anything that conceals a person's identity. We traveled to the North Pole via Sea World today. Wow, can I just share that they are really pushing the photo ops! They have a life size snow globe that your whole family can enter and take pictures in. Too bad we do not have a camera to do so with. We were in a bit of a rush so, we didn't see all of the Christmas shows they have yet, but we did visit Santa. Oliver clung ever so tight as he saw the old Kris Kringle. "No Ho ho ho Mommy, no Santa," he said as we got closer to the man himself. After the photo his entire disposition changed, "That was fun mommy. Santa is fun." We had loads of laughs and held on tightly to him. We saw a Polar bear get inches from the glass of his display and roar like a lion. I know I sound like a Sea World promoter, but I love it there. Oliver touched every sting ray in the sting ray lagoon for a good 1/2 hour while Calvin slept and Daddy and Aunt Abby rode Manta. We also learned of a new sea turtle exhibit! I can't wait! I love sea turtles. They are amazing creatures, so graceful.

Oliver rode his first rollarcoaster today!! Daddy rode it first with Oliver and I followed quickly behind. We were lucky enough to have Aunt Abby join us for some fun today!

My lovely sis-in-law shared this awesome link to a site that sends messages from Santa, boy is he busy this time of year =). Check out our video for Oliver. He will watch it in the morning. "Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmastrees!"

To Grandmother's House We Went...

We received our order of Christmas cards from Cardstore.com! They are beautiful and I am quite happy with them. They are on their way to you as I type this. I also received my first shipment of our Cyber-Monday shopping. I am so excited to celebrate this season! I love this time of year. The garden is growing my favorite veggies of all, the weather is tolerable, there are parties and Christmas crafts, the Christmas devotional, and so many other things to occupy my mind.

Last week, my love came home with a special treat! I have not stopped reading it since! I have discovered one more person to look up to in this life, Lucy Mack Smith. I love exploring the differences in living in this century compared to hers. I know that this century is a better suited for me to learn and grow, but sometimes yearn for the simple life they led. Just reviewing her family history, many of her relatives did not live into their twenties! I will keep you updated as I get further into the book.

We have enjoyed doing one thing each day in celebration of the Christmas season! I have documented this well. In the process, I have lost my camera for good. I have never been without a camera for this long. Even as a child, I had access to one, a disposable nonetheless. I lost it Saturday, after the Christmas parade. It was me. Maybe it will turn up! Maybe I will have to start using an older camera. Either way, I cannot share pictures/video of making peanut butter/Hershey's kisses cookies with the boys. Each unwrapped kiss was a temptation for sweet little Oliver. I will add some Thanksgiving/Blue Ridge Mountains/Gma's-house-we-go photos instead! Check out the most darling hats our friends made over at LettiLu!! We had some fun times at Grandma and Grandpa's house! There was plenty of chasing/holding puppies, rolling in the leaves, walks, cold weather, long family talks, story telling, sunsets, family pictures, and so much more!

Here was my post for December 1st without any related pictures :(

I have decided, to make my little lovebugs aware of the Christmas season, we will participate in one activity from our Christmas wish list each day. Since I have not yet finished creating my advent countdown box, I just chose myself today. We made Peanut butter kisses cookies! We had genuine fun, real laughs, and sneaky smiles. Oliver was best at placing the kisses perfectly in the cookie dough. Wow, he is growing up before my little eyes. He also had no problem sneaking pieces of cookie dough with every free moment. Calvin even joined in on the fun! We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Merry Christmas-Spirit Bloggers!

PS Did you not fully enjoy this beautiful weather today Floridians?! Glorious!
