Friday's Letters

Dear love, Wow! You did a phenomenal job Monday with the kids all day. Not only did you watch them, but you did everything I would have done and more (chores and such...) I really appreciate your dedication as a daddy and hubs.
Dear three boys, This week was nice. We had a lot of fun together. I especially enjoyed the little things about caring for you this week, like tying shoes, preparing dinner and wiping your mouths after eating.
Dear house, I am starting to like you a lot. You feel so open and clutter-free with more boxes un-packed and sent to the garage sale pile (... in the garage).
Dear garage, You need a little attention. I know. Working on it.
Dear Chipotle, I <3 you.

Thankful Thursday

My littlest sis is going on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is an 18 month adventure that includes no face-to-face time with family and 2 phone calls per year to family. It includes saving money to pay for all of her living expenses for that time and having a desire to share what she loves about the gospel with others. She is such an example to me and those she meets. She is kind and patient. She has helped me with my children since they were born. And she is growing up! We are 10 years apart, so she really makes me feel ancient, but simultaneously young. Love you Abbs!

An Old Draft: Mother's Day 2012

I wanted to share this because I love motherhood. Being a mother squeezes every weakness out of you into the forefront. It challenges you every minute, but can be the most rewarding role in life. Being a mother softens your heart, humbles your ego. It gives you a reason to wake every day and fall asleep fast every night. It's all I ever wanted to be.

Mother's Day 2012

Mothers are all around. I run into mothers throughout my day. I look forward to this time of year dedicated to mothers and the ever so important work that mothers accomplish minute by minute. I wrote about my mother here and here last year.

What I would give to be as patient and kind my mother was with us. I know it wasn't easy and support that knowledge now with two young children close in age. I can't imagine having 7 kids in about 10 years. I am grateful to come from such a large family and the sacrifices, little and big, that my mother made for me.

Check out Nie. She ran a mother's day contest that I failed to read about until after the due date. The stories that were submitted and won were so inspirational. Check them out here.

Music Muse Tues: Boyce Avenue

While this song doesn't completely relate to my circumstances, I just love the lyrics. I only began to enjoy it when I heard my favorite BOYCE AVENUE cover it. Gosh, they are amazing. It is a dream of mine to be able to sing a duet with them one day. What music do you LOVE lately? Share in the comments below!

Video Mondays: Touch Another Truck

So last week I failed to include my other son with the garbage truck. Attached is the video. I would love to see your videos. Comment below so I can check them out!

This week is very busy for me. I am off to train all day for work. It will be the first time I am away from baby Gordon for this amount of time. I wish daddy luck and plan to check in as much as possible. My heart aches inside knowing he may wonder where mommy went and why she left him throughout the day tomorrow. But my heart is also at ease with my husband there to care for the boys. Daddy will do great! Wish me luck!

Friday's Letters

This originated from Ashley Slater over HERE. Dear Gordon, You are getting so big. You turn 7 months old tomorrow. I can't get enough of your gummy smile. Actually, so grateful for that "toothless" smile. Dear Cal, Let's work on being friends this week. No more fits. Okay? You make good choices all the time and I will never send you to time-out again. Dear Oliver, Boy, have you become so sweet and endearing. I especially love when you address me with, "My darling." Keep it up. Dear my lover, I am digging the new hair style. And so proud of all of your extra hard work in school. Dear Cold Florida Winter, Please stick around for a little longer. While I LOVE basking in the sun around the pool, I also enjoy spending time with the boys and soon, when you fade away, summer will take over and then my eldest little one will be off to school ALL DAY LONG. I don't know what we will do without him.

Thankful Thursday

"May we never let the things we can't have or don't have or shouldn't have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have, and can have. As we value our happiness let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy with the things we cannot or should not have."
-Richard L. Evans

I'm thankful for Dairy Queen ice-cream, good company and a loving friend for the gift card. I am grateful my husband supported me to have time to myself, encourages me to be myself, and loves me for being myself. I am grateful for the woman my sweet youngest sis is becoming. Dang she is a catch! I'm grateful I was able to drive by our old house, catch up with our old neighbors and feel the love I have for them that was fostered over the last few years. It's good to be a good neighbor. Everyone should try it. I'm thankful for inspiring messages on Sunday that lead me to be more vocal about what I am thankful for.

O.C. Grown

Check out this perceptive video about our local food. Having learned so much from gardening with OC Grown, I am honored to be among those who pride themselves by digging their hands in the soil to plant the food they will eat for dinner. The video below is by Nathan Schmoe. Click HERE for more information. Comment with questions.

Fall Leaves: An Old Draft

Found this little treasure un-posted. Enjoy.
It's hard to believe October is here. My favorite month of the year. The weather, my birthday, pumpkins, dressing up!

Here is a bit from my journal:
September 8, 2013 10:21PM

I sat quietly on the edge of my bed with him in my arms. His eyelids played tricks on me as I rocked him to sleep. I felt the weight of his sweet young body and thought about how much he has grown. It really has been almost 11 weeks. It seems like it has only been a few days since he joined our family,  until I ponder about how difficult it was for me to get him here.

Video Mondays is Back: Touch a Truck

2 weeks in a row!! What? These videos may be dull to you, but they capture a piece of my heart. One of the coolest event's (other than the fabulous parades) that our town sponsors is, "Touch-A-Truck." It is every little boy's dream to not only get into an enormous truck, but to honk, move and pick up garbage cans with the truck. Well, that is exactly what we did. I think the garbage trucks were the biggest hit. I am even impressed with the sophistication of these trucks in our town! Camera's, automatic lift.

What It's All About: Tender Mercies of the Lord

I made it a goal to reach out to you fellow bloggers today (Do Better Sundays). I loved today. I am embracing our new church meeting time. Embracing my new responsibilities at church. It just ended up being a great day. (My love letting me sleep in, DID contribute to this). I want to share more of what I am grateful for through this blog of what matters most. Sadly, I was pretty busy last fall (2012) with 6 college courses on my plate (2 new subjects to start from scratch) and a healthy pregnancy, 2 little ones under the age of 4. Life was busy. Then, it got even busier. My love changed jobs, started attending school at night and on the weekends, we moved and had a precious little babe. I miss you blogging world. I was sitting here staring at these two (pictured above) and thinking, "This is what it is all about. This is why I have been away so long. I have been soaking up every moment of what this life I lead has to offer."

I plan to update you with more posts. If I post each week for the next few months, that is more posts than I did the entire year last year!!! AHHH!! SO terrible. Alright. Catch you later.

Here is a quick message that I shared with my class today: Enjoy!

Renting Textbooks: Campus Book Rentals

So we recently used CampusBookRentals to rent books for the Spring semester for my husband. It was so easy. He typed in the books on their homepage and found them easily. It was SO much cheaper than buying from the bookstore and even renting from other companies, like he has in the past. Easy, affordable, and ideal!

A new trend in the college world is to rent textbooks... So this goes out to all college goers!

One reliable site we found is called CampusBookRentals.com.
Here are the perks of renting textbooks with CampusBookRentals:
-save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways
-can highlight in the textbooks
-flexible renting periods
-we donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
-etc...(you can find more perks at our website :)

Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives. Campus Book Rentals is keeping their partnership with Operation Smile and have committed to donate a minimum of 80 additional surgeries between June 2013 and June 2014.

They are an incredible organization that forever changes children’s lives through reconstructive cleft lip surgeries. The long-term improvement in quality of life for the children that receive these surgeries is almost incomprehensible.

They also have a new addition to their site: RentBack is new initiative that allows students to rent the textbooks they own - to other students... which is awesome because it makes you 2-4x more money compared to what they'd make through buy back options! (selling their books back at the end of the semester) Isn't that awesome?!
How does it work?: CampusBookRentals.com RentBack:
Let me know what you think! I would love to hear from you! I know we will be using them for the Spring semester coming up! Registration has already started for most colleges, so get going with your textbook rentals!
